Boston Patriots 14 Buffalo Bills 3
NO AUDIO The Boston Patriots upset favored Buffalo Bills to gain the Eastern Division lead in the AFL with a final score of Boston 14 to Buffalo 3. Future Hall of Famers for the Patriots includes Jim Nance, Nicholas Buoniconti and Jim Lee Hunt. Inside War Memorial Stadium in Buffalo, New York. Football enthusiasts fill every seat in the stadium. High Angle shot of football game in progress. Patriots QB Vito "Babe" Pirelli passes the ball and it is caught by No. 21. He is taken down at the 5-yd line. Kicker No. 49 comes out and nails the ball over the goal post for 3-points. Fans scramble for retrieval of the ball as fans in the stands cheer and shout in excitement. The Buffalo Bills are in possession. The Quarterback hands off the ball to No. 39, who hurls himself through the pack for a running touchdown. Sports fans are on their feet in applause. Buffalo with the ball makes a 25- yard pass before being brought to his knees. Ending Scoreboard reads Patriots 14 and Buffalo Bills 3.
California Storm: Torrential Rains Force Evacuation
NO AUDIO Five consecutive days of torrential rains and gale winds batter south-central California. Homes and roads are flooded. Bridges are washed out leaving residents marooned. It's the worst flooding in ten years in the area with a weather related death toll of 16. Torrential rains and gale force winds cause havoc for California utility companies and the men who are working out in the elements. Two men on a safety line cross a half tumbled bridge over turbulent rising waters. Panning shot of a flooded area. No sign of resident s just trees and a partially submerged water line marker. Aerial shots of the aftermath caused by the gale force winds and thunderstorms that pounded south-central California. Lots of damages to homes and roadways. An open lock on the river lets the overflow water rush out. A street is closed off as part of a bridge has been swept away in the storm. CU fragments of the bridge that has been broken up and destroyed. Panning shot of local homes and business that have been damaged and stranded as a result of the storm as rushing flood waters continue to flow.
Rhodesian Crisis: Dispute Goes To United Nations
NO AUDIO Britain asks the United Nations to help settle the question of Rhodesian independence. They request economic sanctions and an arms embargo against the rebel government. It's the latest move in a 13 month battle by Britain to crush Prime Minister Ian Smith's white minority regime. A town square of fountains and trees in the center of downtown Rhodesia. Chicago "EL" Crash: 1 Dead, 25 Injured in Derailment
NO AUDIO Two cars of an elevated train in Chicago are derailed and plunge 30 feet to the ground. One man is killed with 25 others injured. It's the first accident of its kind in over a half century. Track obstruction or a jumped switch may have caused it. The center and back portion of a Chicago el "train" are stopped on the tracks. Two workmen stand on the tracks. Trampoline Championships
No Audio The National Dutch Trampoline Championships are held in Amersfoort, Holland. Imported from America, trampoline jumping has become very popular in a short time. Judges award points on the difficulty of the acrobatics and their overall performance. A woman is jumping up and down doing back tucks and front pikes, and periodically landing on the stomach known as a log roll. A girl jumps doing front pikes and back pikes completing some backwards and forwards somersaults. A young male gymnast performs his trampoline skills; he tucks himself into a ball. When he's airborne, he performs a repetition of triple somersaults with ease, ending in a half twist jump. Well-dressed crowds cheer. He executes a front twist and followed by a back twist. CU trampoline springs shaking. Judges taking notes. A girl gymnast performs a full twist jump. She makes a straddled jump followed by a forward twist and backward somersault. She bounces, grabs her knees and does a backward somersault. She continues executing the twists forwards and backwards, known as the full twist jump. When her performance is complete she bounces smiling off the trampoline to nearby coach or gymnast who helps her down.
Aegean Tragedy: Greek Ferry Sinks, Hundreds Lost
NO AUDIO The Greek ferry, SS Heraklion is sunk in the Aegean Sea during a furious storm on its way from Crete to Athens Port, Piraeus. 235 are dead or missing and 49 survive. Rescue planes circle the sea looking for survivors of the Greek ferry SS Heraklion. Aerial shots of cargo ships looking for survivors in the Aegean Sea. Fancy Fish: Marineland Shows Rare Dolphins
NO AUDIO Four rare Risso s dolphins go on display at Marine land, Florida. Their strange markings are caused by teeth wounds from other dolphins.
