Prime Minister Kwame Nkrumah is overthrown in a military coup after he leaves Ghana for a visit to Peiping "to achieve peace in Vietnam". Nkrumah took over in a one-man rule after Ghana won its independence, jailed his foes and began a despotic rule. Now, however, he's just another unemployed exile.
