Life appears to go on calmly in Nigeria's streets despite an attempted coup by dissident junior officers. Only days after he presides at a Commonwealth Ministers Conference, Nigerian Prime Minister Balewa was kidnapped by the rebels. The uprising came as a shock to Commonwealth nations.
