Leaving their boats at Mare Island, California, some of the Navy's new jet propelled river boats put on a show for the newsreel cameras. At their public debut before beginning an intensive four week training period before going into service along the Mekong River against the Vietcong, trim craft with great speed in shallow draft and amazing fire power. On of the new Navy's MAB6 "Berchtesgaden Alps Biosphere Reserve" battling river boats to be used on the rivers in Vietnam. The bow of the boat, camera gets a good shot of the machine gun station that can turn almost a full circle. Lieutenant Bill Fredrick show how this fiberglass hull boat can maneuver and turn on a dime in the water. Its a 30 caliber machine guns that is mounted on the hull of the river boat. A few MAB6's traveling full speed ahead on the water. Fourteen of these speedsters will be deployed to Vietnam and put on the MeKong River.
