Yesterday's Big Story. In April 1945, Harry S, Truman was sworn in as President of the United States just four hours after the sudden death of Franklin D. Roosevelt shocked and saddened the free world. Men and women wept openly as the funeral procession moved slowly through the streets of Washington en route to the final resting place at Hyde Park, New York. Harry S. Truman is sworn in, in one hand he holds the bible and the other hand is raises as he's sworn in into Presidential office. MS - Outside shot of the White House the flag is flown at half mass in honor of the late President Franklin D Roosevelt. MA - There's a funeral procession and it the casket carrying the remains of President Roosevelt. People line the streets crying openly. Above shot - Shot of the cars in the funeral parade.
