Hoop Champs: Texas Western Upsets Kentucky
The crowd at College Park, Maryland, see a David come out of the west to slay an eastern Goliath. Texas Western wins the National Collegiate Basketball Championship by downing the highly favored Kentucky team 72 to 65. Nobody paid much attention to Texas Western when they entered the tournament, but there was tumult and shouting when the team won the first major sport title Texas Western had ever won. College Park, Maryland High Angle Wide Shot - Throngs of Basketball fans all looking down at the basketball court at the University of Maryland, the game is in play. High Angle Shot - Texas has the ball and in no time they bring it down to Kentucky's basket and scores some points. MS - No 42, Pat Riley lobs the ball and it falls into the basket scoring some points for Kentucky. CUS - Coaches. High Angle Shot - Texas has the ball on court, they bounce it back and forth among the Texas players. One of the players lobs the ball right into the basket. Texas scores and tallies up more points. Texas played with 7 men during the whole game. High Angle Shot - No 10 Kentucky has the basketball and out of nowhere comes a Texas player. He steels the ball, runs right over to the basket and scores. MS - No 45, Kentucky has the ball in the second half and scores. MS - No 10, Kentucky has the ball. He tries to make the basket and hits the rim. Texas No 23, Dave Lattin, picks up the ball and backs up teammate to tap the ball in the basket. Wide Angle Shot - Packed stadium with basketball fans. MS - Texas Western has the ball and sinks it in for some points and wins the game. CU - Happy, smiling hand waving college basketball players of Texas Western celebrating their win. Camera swings to Kentucky and the basketball players are sitting there on the bench with their heads hanging and looking disappointed. CUS - Texas Western receiving the winning plaque. AINT LOVE GRAND British Panda Arrives To Meet Soviet Mate
Not since Romeo and Juliet has there been such a love story. Crowds greet Chi Chi who arrives in Moscow to meet An An, a Russian man about town and her groom. The only two pandas outside of Red China, Chi Chi and An An will make zoologist happy if they become proud parents. Curtain Raiser For Indianapolis 500
The nation's top drivers compete in the Phoenix 150 mile race, a warm-up for the Indianapolis Five Hundred Classic. Jim McElreath gets home first with an average of close to 99 miles an hour. FRONT LINE ACTION Marine Officer Reportds Battle With Vietcong
A dramatic description from the scene of a recent U.S. Marine search and clear mission by Marine Lieut. Dick Neckline. Under murderous Vietcong fire the young Marine never pauses as he describes the action of flushing a Vietcong regiment from its jungle caves and fastnesses. Truly Heroic! In a Vietnamese village a Marine Officer, Lieut. Dick Nicklin standing with a microphone in hand describing the action of the soldiers, the sounds gun fire of attacking North Vietnamese. He reports there is going be a very methodical search of the Vietnamese grass huts that are behind him. Marines walking very slow up to a grass hut. Vietnamese woman holding her baby on her hip. A soldier is speaking with his commanding officer, pointing. Soldiers are moving around looking for young men who can be members of the Vietcong and for tunnels and caves. In the distance you can see the exploitations from motor fire and you can hear the sound of the bullets and the rapid firing of a machine gun. You can see something is on fire in the distance. Two soldiers step into the frame and for now they are just observing. You hear this long round of machine gun fire, you see a soldier running through the trees and then you see a Vietnam home hit by motor fire, and burst into flames. Marine Officer, Lieut. Dick Nicklin explains how the soldiers thought that they were in a rest period with nothing much happening when all hell broke loose 10-minutes ago.

JET RIVER BOATS Anti-Guerilla Fleet Makes Speedy Debut.
Leaving their boats at Mare Island, California, some of the Navy's new jet propelled river boats put on a show for the newsreel cameras. At their public debut before beginning an intensive four week training period before going into service along the Mekong River against the Vietcong, trim craft with great speed in shallow draft and amazing fire power. On of the new Navy's MAB6 "Berchtesgaden Alps Biosphere Reserve" battling river boats to be used on the rivers in Vietnam. The bow of the boat, camera gets a good shot of the machine gun station that can turn almost a full circle. Lieutenant Bill Fredrick show how this fiberglass hull boat can maneuver and turn on a dime in the water. Its a 30 caliber machine guns that is mounted on the hull of the river boat. A few MAB6's traveling full speed ahead on the water. Fourteen of these speedsters will be deployed to Vietnam and put on the MeKong River.

The British elections return the Labor Party to power in London - Prime Minister and Mrs. Harold Wilson continue as residents at Number 10 Downing Street. Scooter Riding Nuns
At Granite City, Illinois, the Sisters of St. Elizabeth's Hospital use scooters to make their nursing rounds. The innovation was made necessary by the growing lengths of the corridors in the expanding institution. Granite City, Illinois A nun dressed in all white on a battery powered motor scooter, in a large hospital. Same nun disembarking from an elevator on her motor scooter, she pulls up to a nursing station and looks over a medical chart with another sister. Through an open door a regular nurse attending to the needs of a patient, the nurse walks out of the patients room and get's on the motor scooter. One of the 'nurse' nuns giving a little black child a ride on the motor scooter, and off they go down the corridor. Looks like an early version of a segway.

The Grand National
What could be the last Grand National Steeplechase to be held at Aintree, England, is won by the 50-1 shot angle, with jockey Tim Norman driving. The famous course is being negotiated for by a building syndicate that wants to cut it up into lots for a housing development. Throngs of people attend one of the most famous and brutal race horse courses in world, The Grand National. Horses are lined up and they take off in an explosion of thundering hooves. Horses clearing one of many hurdles, as the horses make it over there is a jockeyless horse on the track. Horses and their jockeys thundering down the track. MRS LBJ AT FIESTA Starts Texas Tour At San Antonio Fete
Recovered from a bout with the flu, Mrs. Johnson is started on a tour from the White House by her husband. The First Lady is out to learn more about the vast Lone Star reaches and she makes her start at a Light Fiesta in San Antonio - turning on a new system of illumination to light the river that runs through the city. President Lyndon B. Johnson Meets with Scholars "President Johnson hosts high school intellectuals at the White House and delights them by using their own jargon." MSs geeky (thick eyeglasses, close-cropped haircuts) Caucasian high school students wearing their Sunday best sitting in White House for ceremony.
